How to set up Chatbot
Set up custom commands and timers once, and Streamities' chatbot posts them into your live chat for real: not just an overlay mockup. Answer FAQs, promote your Discord, or remind viewers about follow goals on autopilot.
Takes about 2 minutes
Step by step
- 1
Sign in and set up the bot
Open the Streamities dashboard, choose Chatbot, and pick the commands and responses you want. Everything is configured here — nothing to install, no separate account to link.
- 2
Connect the channel it should run in
The bot acts on the platform account connected to your Streamities profile, so make sure the right channel is linked before you go live.
- 3
Keep one widget live
Chatbot has no Browser Source of its own: it runs alongside your other widgets. As long as one Streamities overlay is open in OBS while you stream, the bot is running with it.
Nothing to add to OBS
Chatbot has no Browser Source of its own. It runs alongside whatever Streamities widget is already open in your scene, so there is no URL to copy and no source to add.
Good to know
Custom commands
Define as many chat commands as you want, each with its own response.
Scheduled timers
Post recurring messages automatically, on whatever interval you choose.
Posts for real
Messages appear directly in your Twitch or YouTube chat, not just on your overlay.
If it doesn't show up
The source is blank or black+
Refresh the source (right-click → Refresh) and check that the URL was pasted in full. A source that is black on first load and fine after a refresh is usually hardware acceleration — enable it under Settings → Advanced in OBS.
It worked, then stopped updating+
Almost always "Shutdown source when not visible". With it on, OBS kills the page whenever you switch scenes and the live connection goes with it. Turn it off in the source properties.
The text looks blurry+
The source is being scaled. Reset the transform (right-click → Transform → Reset Transform) and set the width and height in the source properties instead — 0 × 0 is the size to start from.
It's the wrong size in my scene+
Change Width and Height in the source properties rather than dragging the corner handles. Dragging scales the rendered image; the properties change what gets rendered.
Chatbot: common questions
Is Chatbot free?+
Yes. Every plan includes one Chatbot widget, live updates and the default look included. Creator+ adds unlimited widgets of every type, plus full styling, animations and the premium templates.
Where does Chatbot actually go?+
Nowhere in OBS. Chatbot needs no Browser Source of its own — it runs alongside any other Streamities widget you already have open while you stream.
Does Chatbot work with Streamlabs and XSplit?+
Yes. Chatbot is a normal web page, so it works in any streaming software with a browser or web overlay source — OBS Studio, Streamlabs, XSplit and the rest.
How long does Chatbot take to set up?+
A couple of minutes. Create it in the dashboard, copy its URL, paste it into a source. Styling can happen later, live, without touching OBS again.
Do I need to install a plugin?+
No. There is nothing to download and no plugin to keep updated — Chatbot is one URL, and it updates itself on our side.
